Hazel
Hazel has been an artist and metal
sculptor for over ten years. During
that period, her work has changed,
mirroring her own personal evolution.
The thread of continuity has been
creating three dimensional sculptures
using metal, rock, wood and glass.
Although Hazel’s work has changed,
her motivations have not. She
continually strives to create sculptures
that evoke a strong feeling or emotion
when viewed.
Hazel would hope & expect that such
feelings and thoughts are different for
each observer as a result of their own
life perceptions and life experiences.
Ultimately Hazel would like to create a
park where her art merges seamlessly
with a functional, safe play area for
children as well as blending with the
surrounding environs. Children
playing on sculptures that stimulate
their imagination while adult observers
do the same on a more visual,
emotional basis she would consider a
pinnacle of her efforts.
Hazel has been greatly inspired and
affected by Isamu Noguchi, Maya Lin,
Joseph Campbell, Gaudi and Andy
Goldsworthy. |
Laurel
If you do not believe in fairies and
magic then you have not met Laurel.
She has been involved in fashion
design and creation far longer than
her young age would suggest.
Laurel has a magical intuition that
allows her to always be far ahead of
the established fashion community.
She never ceases to amaze!
Laurel has been heavily influenced by
Japanese fashion and even lived in
Chiba, Japan to immerse herself in
the cutting edge youth culture.....a
true testimony to her commitment and
passion to create fashion she believes
in.
Try to imagine an amalgamation of
Japanese street culture, fantasy, the
feminine silhouette of the 1950’s, the
philosophy and color of the ‘60’s and
70’s, the writing of Haruki Murakami,
and all that glitters.
Bringing those together would require
a magical individual and Laurel is just
that! Laurel’s specialty is
transforming vintage clothing and
accessories into an often quirky,
creative masterpiece while always
remaining flattering to a woman’s
physique and personality.
One can only describe her work as
“the fashion you see....do a double
take,
and then cannot take your eyes
off”.
Laurel is definitely not afraid to
create for those who are not afraid
or
limited by what others perceive
as
stylish or chic.
The true testimony to Laurel’s talents
is that her creations today are what
show up on the runways and
streets tomorrow! |
Mariko
Amazing, natural, different, on the
edge.....all adjectives that have been
used to describe Mariko and her work.
Those fortunate enough to have seen
her art would almost certainly feel that
those words do not sufficiently convey
her seemingly limitless imagination,
creativity and pure talent.
Equally incredible is that Mariko
seems to achieve that same level in
virtually every medium she chooses.
As a result, this young artist continues
to create in an almost unheard of
spectrum of fields including fashion
design, weaving, embroidery/crochet,
screen-printing, drawing, illustration,
graffiti, jewelry and more.
Her work is inspiring and thought
provoking. She certainly will give one
cause to wonder what the future holds
for her at this relatively young age! |
